Sochy Johna Watts-Nielsena na první pohled připomínají exponáty blíže nespecifikovaného evropského muzea. Vnesením artefaktu do prostředí muzea ztrácí dílo svůj původní význam a účel, který často souvisel s obřadními či rituálními praktikami. V hieratickém kontextu muzea se stává především součástí dějin umění. Ztráta původních souvislostí je pak patrná zvláště u vystavených předmětů mimoevropských kultur. Rekonstrukce originálních kontextů a dekonstrukce muzeálních nebo případných postkoloniálních stereotypů vnímání patří nejen k současné agendě historie umění stejně jako muzeologie, ale může se stát také pomyslným „nulovým“ bodem umělecké aktivity.
