At first glance, the series depicts some kind of mysterious interiors, although in reality they are the rear side of audio speakers. This seemingly un-painterly subject provided the artist with the opportunity to create an elaborate painting with a rich scale of gray-blue tints. While in operation they are filled with an acoustic energy and the membranes tremble in the rhythm of sound; as the title indicates, however, the artist captured them in a moment of quiet. -mf-
